Okay, so, the other day, I was thinking about movies, right? And it hit me – “Alice in Wonderland” is such a unique vibe. I wanted more of that dreamy, whimsical stuff. So, I started a little project to find movies that give off similar feelings.
First, I jumped onto my computer and opened up my browser. You know, the usual starting point. I typed in “movies like Alice in Wonderland” into the search bar. My god, I got so many results. But the most frequently mentioned was “The Wizard of Oz”. Seems like it’s a classic for a reason, the American version of “Alice in Wonderland” I guess. I added it to my list.
Then, I scrolled through some more. And, of course, there are eight “Harry Potter” films. Who doesn’t know “Harry Potter”, right? Everyone talks about those, and they do have that magical, other-worldly element. So, I added them to the list.
But I wasn’t just going to stop there. I dug deeper. I found this site, I think it was called “Filmaffinity” or something? It lets you rate movies and get recommendations. Pretty cool, actually. I started poking around there, looking at movies that people who liked “Alice in Wonderland” also liked.
I discovered this movie called “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” from 2005. I had seen it before, but I didn’t really think about how it might be similar to “Alice in Wonderland”. But yeah, it’s got that fantastical, weird, and colorful world. Into the list, it went!
And then there’s “Shrek”. I know, I know, it might seem a bit out there, but hear me out. It’s got talking animals, a whole different world with its own rules, and a journey of self-discovery. I thought, why not? So, I added “Shrek” too.
After a few hours, I had a pretty decent list. I made a simple list in my notebook. I was pretty happy with it! Here’s what I ended up with:
- The Wizard of Oz (1939)
- Harry Potter (all of them)
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
- Shrek (2001)
So, yeah, that’s how I spent my afternoon. It was a fun little adventure, diving into the world of movies. Now I have a bunch of films to watch that hopefully will give me that same magical feeling as “Alice in Wonderland”. I am so excited to watch it!
