Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a copy of Amazing Spider-Man 300 for a while now. This comic is a classic, with that iconic cover of Spidey in the black suit. Plus, it’s the first full appearance of Venom, which is a huge deal. So, I started my hunt.
First, I checked out a few local comic shops. No luck. Struck out a few times, but I wasn’t giving up. Then I started looking online. I found some copies, but wow, the prices were all over the place! Some were way out of my budget, and others were in pretty rough shape. I wanted a decent copy, you know? Something that looked good and wouldn’t fall apart in my hands. This made it more difficult than I thought.
I did some research and realized this issue was kind of a big deal, this is the third issue into McFarlane’s classic Spider-Man run. It seems like Todd McFarlane really changed the game when he started drawing Spider-Man. I read that after issue 328, he left to do his own thing. I also found that before issue 300, he had only penciled a couple of issues, and 300 was the first one he also inked! The history behind this comic makes it even cooler.
I also stumbled upon this other comic, Sensational Spider-Man Annual Vol. 2 #1, called “To Have And To Hold.” It sounds like a really touching story about Peter and Mary Jane. People say it’s one of the best Spidey stories because it shows how much they love each other. It made me appreciate the character even more.
Anyway, back to my hunt for issue 300. After lots of looking, I finally found a copy that was in good condition and within my price range! It was such a relief. I was so excited when it arrived, carefully packaged and everything.
Holding it in my hands
- The cover was even more amazing in person.
- Flipping through the pages, I could see why McFarlane’s art is so loved.
- It’s dynamic and detailed.
Reading the story of Spidey battling Venom, knowing it’s their first major showdown, was awesome. This comic is definitely a highlight of my collection. It was totally worth the effort to track it down. Finding this comic is an experience I really wanted to share with you.
