Okay, so, I got this new 4K Blu-ray of Anchorman. Yeah, the classic one, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. I’ve always been a massive fan, and I figured, why not see how good it looks in 4K? I’d heard some buzz about it, you know, the usual stuff about “four times the resolution” and “greater clarity”. And honestly, 4k resolution is four times the regular stuff, so I mean it better look good. I mean, regular Blu-ray is alright, but 4K? That’s supposed to be like looking through a crystal-clear window, right?
So, I popped it into my 4K player. My setup is decent enough. Big 4K TV, good sound system, the whole nine yards. I was actually pretty excited, you know, like a kid on Christmas morning. First thing I noticed, the colors. Man, they really pop! Ron’s burgundy suit? It practically jumped off the screen. And the detail! You can see every little thread, every wrinkle. It’s insane! Then I decided to find out what’s the format. And it turned out to be 1.85:1. Not bad!
- Sharpness:
It’s definitely sharper than the old Blu-ray. I mean, you can see every hair on Ron’s glorious mustache. It’s almost too much detail, haha! There was this one scene, you know, the news team fight? All that chaos, and I could make out every single person in the background. It’s wild! So many pixels! To be specific, it’s 4096 x 2160, which is, like, 8.8 million pixels. On my old Blu-ray, it’s only about 2 million pixels. Crazy, right?
- Sound:
I didn’t notice a huge difference in the sound, but it was already pretty good on the Blu-ray. But hey, it was clear, crisp, no complaints there. But to be honest, I think the theatrical cut is the best. And the good news is that it is the one in 4k.
Overall Impression
Look, I love this movie. It’s hilarious, it’s quotable, and now it looks amazing. If you’re a fan of Anchorman, and you’ve got a 4K setup, I’d say it’s worth the upgrade. It’s like watching it for the first time again, but with, you know, way more pixels. I am so glad that Paramount made this choice. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go watch it again. “I love lamp!” You know what I mean? Anyway, just wanted to share my experience. It’s pretty sweet!
