Okay, so, I’ve been getting into collecting figures lately, and let me tell you, it’s addictive! I finally decided to take the plunge and start displaying my “Attack on Titan” figures. You know, the ones with Eren, Mikasa, and all those awesome characters. I wanted to do it right, make them look like they’re part of the room, not just some toys thrown on a shelf.
First, I started looking around the house for a good spot. I thought about just putting them on my desk, but it felt too cramped. I needed something better. Then, I remembered those floating shelves I saw someone using online. They looked pretty slick, and they’d keep the figures out of the way but still visible. I went with those. I picked up a couple of basic white ones.
Installation Time
Installing the shelves was a bit of a pain, but nothing too crazy. I measured everything out, marked the wall, drilled some holes, the usual stuff. Got them up, and they looked pretty good! I also thought about a bookcase, some of my friends use them, but then I don’t have a bookcase at home, I think floating shelf is better. There is another option called detolf, which I found out is a popular choice for display figures from IKEA, it looks good, but maybe I will try it next time.
Next, I started arranging the figures. I didn’t want to just line them up like soldiers; I wanted some dynamic poses. So, I played around with different setups. I put Eren in the middle, like he’s leading the charge, and positioned Mikasa and Armin on either side, ready for action. I even tried to recreate some scenes from the show, which was fun!
The Eye-Level Principle
When I was researching, I read somewhere that the best way to display is at eye level. Made sense, so I made sure the main shelf was right there, easy to see when I walked into the room. I put a few smaller figures on a lower shelf, which worked out pretty well, almost like they’re interacting on different levels.
I also thought about the background. I didn’t want it to be too distracting, so I kept it simple. I had a few “Attack on Titan” posters lying around, so I hung one behind the main shelf. It added a nice touch, without being too overwhelming. Some people use acrylic boxes to showcase their figures, which is cool, but I like having them out in the open.
Honestly, the whole process was a blast. It took a bit of time and effort, but seeing my “Attack on Titan” figures displayed like this, it’s totally worth it. They look awesome, and it makes the room feel more, I don’t know, personalized? If you’re a collector, I definitely recommend giving this a shot. It’s a fun way to show off your collection and make your space your own!
- Step 1: Choose a display method (floating shelves, bookcase, etc.).
- Step 2: Install shelves or assemble furniture.
- Step 3: Arrange figures in dynamic poses, ideally at eye level.
- Step 4: Consider the background and add subtle complementary elements.
That’s my story for now. I might add more to the display later, maybe some lighting or something. But for now, I’m super happy with how it turned out!
