Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make a collection about batman comic book covers for a while, and today I finally dove in. It’s something I’ve been putting off, but I’m glad I finally started!
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out where to even begin. I knew I wanted a good mix of classic covers and some newer, more modern ones. So, I started by just brainstorming some of my all-time favorites. You know, the ones that instantly pop into your head when you think “Batman.”
- Detective Comics #27 (obviously!)
- The Dark Knight Returns #1
- The Killing Joke
- Batman #404 (Year One)
These were the must-haves, the cornerstones of my little project.
Deep Dive into Research
Once I had my foundation, I needed to fill in the gaps. This is where things got a little tricky. There are SO many Batman comics out there! I spent a good chunk of time browsing online, I just searched “best batman comic book covers”.
I made a huge list of potential covers, jotting down anything that caught my eye. Some were recommended, some were just covers I stumbled upon that looked cool.
Making the Cut
Now came the hard part: narrowing down the list. I had way too many! I started by grouping them by artist, era, and even by the villain featured. This helped me see the bigger picture and figure out what I was missing.
I wanted a good representation of different styles, so I made sure to include some of the more “out there” covers, not just the super iconic ones. You know, the ones that are a little weird, a little different, but still awesome.
The Final Result
After much agonizing and rearranging, I finally have the collection that I am happy with! It’s not perfect, and I’m sure I’ll keep adding to it, but it’s a start. And the most important thing is that it’s full of covers that I love and that represent what Batman means to me.
It’s a mix of old and new, classic and quirky, and everything in between. Just like the Batman himself!
