Okay, so I was totally sucked into this movie “Vengeance: A Love Story” the other night. Nicolas Cage, right? Gotta watch it. But the ending… I had to rewind it like three times to figure out what was actually going on. So, I’m gonna break down my whole process of understanding it, just in case anyone else was as confused as I was.
First, I watched the whole movie, start to finish. Got the basic gist – you know, the brutal assault, the court case, Cage’s character being all vigilante-like. But the ending felt rushed. Like, boom, it’s over. What happened? Did he get away with it? What about the girl?
Digging Deeper, Rewind Time!
So, step two: rewind. I went back to the last 20 minutes or so. Watched it again, paying super close attention to every little detail. The dialogue, the looks on people’s faces, the background stuff. I’m pretty sure I annoyed my wife with all the pausing and rewinding.
- I focused on Cage’s character, John Dromoor. He’s a cop, but he’s totally off the rails after the trial.
- Then there’s Teena, the victim. She’s understandably traumatized, and her mom is, well, let’s just say “complicated.”
- The bad guys… they got off too easy, in my opinion. Classic movie injustice.
Putting the Pieces together!
Okay, third watch-through of the ending. This time, I think I got it. It is the key part that Dromoor is at the police, and he shot those bad guys with justice.
It’s all kind of implied, which is why it’s confusing.
And Teena? She’s finally free. You see her at the very end, and she seems… peaceful. Like she’s finally able to start healing. It’s a bittersweet ending, for sure. Justice is served, but at a cost.
So, that was my journey through the ending of “Vengeance: A Love Story.” It took a few tries, and a lot of pausing, but I think I finally cracked the code. Anyone else have a different take on it? Let me know!
