Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this fella, Eddie Kurland. I heard folks talkin’ about him, sayin’ he was some kinda big shot. He ain’t from around here, that’s for sure. Heard he played that basketball game. You know, the one where they bounce the ball and throw it in the hoop. My grandson, bless his heart, he loves that game. Plays it all day long, he does.
This Eddie, he was somethin’ else, I reckon. They say he was good, real good. Jumped high, ran fast, all that. Not like these young’uns today, glued to them phones. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that. We played outside till the sun went down, and we were better for it, I tell ya.

Now, this Eddie Kurland, he played with some team. I can’t rightly recall the name. Somethin’ with “Lakers”, maybe. Like a lake? We got a lake ’round here. Old Man Johnson used to fish there. Caught a big ol’ catfish once, bigger than my arm! Anyway, this Eddie, he was a star player, they say. Made lots of points. Points is how you win that game, ya know.
- He was a big deal in that basketball.
- Folks say he was real good at it, makin’ points and all.
- He was on some team, Lakers, or somethin’ like that.
They got these things called “stats”. It’s like keepin’ score, but fancy. Eddie, he had a lot of ’em. Points, rebounds, assists. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but the young folks, they eat it up. They say it’s important, these stats. Shows how good a fella is at the game.
They say this Eddie Kurland was also a real nice fella. Helped folks out. Taught the young’uns how to play. That’s good. We need more folks like that. Too many people just lookin’ out for themselves these days. It ain’t right.
Seems this Eddie Kurland, he passed on. Went to the other side. Happens to all of us, sooner or later. But folks remember him. That’s what matters, ain’t it? Being remembered for doin’ good.

Heard he was in some kinda Hall of Fame too. That’s like a big ol’ trophy, but it ain’t a trophy. It’s a place where they remember all the good players. Like a museum, but for basketball. This Eddie Kurland, he’s in there. Must be somethin’ special, huh?
He played a long time ago, this Eddie. Before my time, even. But people still talk about him. That means somethin’, don’t it? Means he was somethin’ special. That basketball, it’s a big deal to some folks. They got players makin’ millions. Millions! Can you believe that? For bouncin’ a ball.
This Eddie, he probably made a good livin’. Not like me. I worked hard my whole life. Farmed the land, raised my kids. Didn’t have much, but we had enough.
This fella, Eddie Kurland, he lived a different life. But it sounds like he lived a good one. That’s all that matters, ain’t it? Livin’ a good life, bein’ kind to folks, doin’ what you love. That’s the secret, I reckon. Don’t matter if you’re rich or poor, famous or not. Just be good. And play some basketball, I guess, if that’s your thing.

Some other fella, name’s Mikan, he died from that sugar sickness, diabetes. Eddie, he got in a car crash. Poor fella. But he lived a long life, I reckon. Played that ball game a whole lot. People sure do love that basketball, huh? And they surely remember the good players like Eddie Kurland.
- Eddie Kurland, he was a good basketball man.
- He played that game, scored them points.
- Folks remember him, even now. That’s a good thing.
One fella, name of Jones, he had a whole bunch of steals and blocks. Sounds like he was good too. And this other one, Edwards, he was good at sackin’. Like puttin’ taters in a sack, I reckon. They got all these words for that game.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about this Eddie Kurland. Just a fella who played that ball game. But he was good at it, and folks remember him. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Being good at somethin’ and bein’ remembered. That’s the dream, I suppose. Even for an old gal like me.
This Eddie fellow, wonder if his grandkids play ball like he did. It’s nice when kids do what their elders did. Like old times, keepin’ family things goin’.

They say that Eddie was a real special player. That’s what they say. They say he was the best there was for his time. And that’s why they put him in the hall of fame, so people remember him.
This Eddie fellow, he played that basketball game like nobody’s business. He was a big deal back in the day. Everyone knew his name. He was all over the place, jumpin’ and shootin’.

They used to call those players big stars back then. And Eddie, he was one of the biggest. The way they talk about him, he was a legend.
These days there are lots of players and lots of teams. But back then, it was different. Eddie and his team, they were something else. And they played in the big games, the championships.

And they say Eddie, he was always in the middle of it. Scoring points, helpin’ his team win. That’s what they say. They say he was the heart of the team.
Those old games, they must have been something to see. Wish I could have seen them. But I’m glad folks still remember Eddie. It’s good to remember the good ones.

This Eddie Kurland, he was one of the good ones. A real good one. A real good basketball player. That’s what folks say, anyway.
