Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do this “Over the Garden Wall” thing for a while, you know, that animated mini-series? It just screams “fall” to me. I finally decided to give it a shot, and, well, it was a bit of a journey.
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my materials. I thought, “What really captures the vibe?” I grabbed some orange and brown construction paper, some fallen leaves from outside (bonus points for realness!), a few twigs, and some scissors and glue. I even found some old buttons that looked kinda vintage-y.
The Crafting Process
- I started by cutting out some basic shapes from the construction paper – circles for pumpkins, leaf shapes, and some wonky rectangles for, you know, vaguely house-like things.
- Then, I glued the leaves onto the paper. This was trickier than I thought! They kept curling up, so I had to use a lot of glue. I might have gone a bit overboard, not gonna lie.
- Next, I stuck on the twigs. I wanted them to look like branches, but they ended up looking more like…well, twigs glued to paper.
- I used my black marker to make some cute little animals on the paper.
- Finally, I added the buttons. I thought they’d give it a nice, rustic touch. They mostly just looked like buttons glued to paper, but hey, I tried.
The Final Result (and Some Thoughts)
So, the finished product? It wasn’t exactly magazine-worthy. It looked a little… rough. More like “Over the Messy Garden Wall,” maybe. But you know what? I had fun! It was relaxing to just sit there and cut and glue and try to make something. And even though it’s not perfect, it definitely has that fall feeling. I put it up on my fridge, and every time I see it, it makes me smile. It’s a reminder that sometimes, it’s the process, not the outcome, that really matters. Plus, I got to use up some old craft supplies, which is always a win!
Might try this again next year, maybe with some paint this time. We’ll see!
