Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of creating a cartoon version of Brock Purdy, you know, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. It all started when I stumbled upon some GIFs of him online. I thought, “Hey, this guy’s got a fun personality, why not try turning him into a cartoon?”
First things first, I needed some good reference images. So, I did what anyone would do – I hit up the internet. I found a bunch of photos of him, both on and off the field. I even dug up his basic info, like when he was born and where he played college ball. Turns out, he’s a pretty interesting dude.
With my references in hand, I started sketching. I’m not a professional artist or anything, but I enjoy doodling in my free time. I wanted to capture his likeness but also give him that exaggerated, cartoony look. I played around with his features, making his eyes a bit bigger, his jawline a bit more defined, you know, the usual cartoon stuff.
- Sketching: Just rough outlines at first, getting the basic shape of his head and body.
- Refining: Adding more details, like his hair and facial features. I made sure to include his signature scruff.
- Inking: Once I was happy with the sketch, I went over it with a pen to make the lines clean and bold.
Then came the coloring part. I don’t have any fancy digital art tools, so I just used some colored pencils I had lying around. I kept his 49ers uniform colors, of course – that iconic red and gold. It took a few tries to get the colors just right, but I think it turned out pretty decent.
The whole process was actually pretty relaxing. It’s always fun to see a project come to life, even if it’s just a simple cartoon drawing. I’m thinking of doing more of these, maybe other athletes or even some of my favorite movie characters. Who knows?
What’s Next?
I’m planning to scan my Brock Purdy cartoon and maybe share it online. It would be cool to see what other people think. Maybe I’ll even try animating it someday, like those GIFs I saw. That would be a whole new challenge, but it sounds like fun!
Anyways, that’s the story of my little Brock Purdy cartoon project. Hope you enjoyed this little peek into my creative process. It’s not always perfect, but it’s always an adventure!
