Okay, so I’ve been digging into this “Gail Simone Uncanny X-Men 3” comic lately. Let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride.
First off, I grabbed the comic – it’s published by Marvel Comics, so that was easy enough. Gail Simone’s the writer, and the art’s by Dave Marquez. I’ve always been a bit of an X-Men fan, so I was pretty pumped to check out what Simone was bringing to the table.
I started reading, and right away, I got thrown into this whole mess with these new young mutants. They show up on Rogue’s doorstep, and they’re all powerful and totally clueless about their powers. They don’t even know how they got there! It’s wild. So, Rogue, Gambit, and Wolverine are suddenly dealing with these four new kids who are, like, super dangerous without even trying.
Now, Simone does give us a little bit of a peek into the backstories of these new mutants. It’s brief, but it’s something. Honestly, the whole thing felt a bit all over the place to me. Kind of like those old Claremont issues, I guess? He wrote the first three of this series, way back when, before leaving Marvel.
The Start of It All
- Read Uncanny X-Men(1963) #1
I dug around a bit and figured out that for people just getting into X-Men, there are these “Grand Design” or “Season One” books that are supposed to be good for understanding the basics. And, of course, the classic “Uncanny X-Men” run from 1975 is, like, the gold standard. This Uncanny X-Men(1963 – 2011) has been the flagship X-Men comic for over 40 years, delivering action and suspense.
Anyway, back to this issue. I read through it, looked at some reviews online – just to see if it was just me or what. Turns out, other people felt the same way. A bit disjointed, you know? I mean, it’s cool to see these new characters, but I wish there was a bit more… I don’t know, something more to it.
So, yeah, that’s my take on “Gail Simone Uncanny X-Men 3.” It was an okay read, but not exactly mind-blowing. I’m still curious to see where Simone goes with these new mutants, though. Maybe things will get a little more interesting in the next issue. We’ll see!
