So, I finally got my hands on the Blu-ray of “I Saw the TV Glow”.
First off, I ordered this thing online. I checked multiple websites, and I couldn’t find the pre-order links. So I waited for a few days and finally found the purchase button on a movie site. I guess it just got released not long ago. I clicked on the purchase button, filled in my address, and paid for it.
It took around five days to arrive. I tore open the package as soon as the delivery guy handed it to me. I really wanted to watch this movie!
- The cover art is pretty cool, very much in line with the film’s vibe.
- The disc popped into my player without a hitch.
- The menu is simple and straightforward.
Watching the Movie
I grabbed some snacks, dimmed the lights, and hit play.
Man, I have to say this movie really resonated with me. It’s not just some regular flick; it delves deep into some heavy stuff. I heard that Jane Schoenbrun, the director, talked about this film being about the “egg crack,” which is basically that moment when a trans person realizes their true identity. That concept intrigued me, so I watched a few interviews with her before.
The performances are amazing. Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine, who are the main stars, really brought their A-game. They made me feel every bit of the characters’ emotions. And there are also Conner O’Malley, Amber Benson, and Danielle Deadwyler, who all did a great job.
The picture quality on the Blu-ray is top-notch. Everything looked crisp and clear, especially those eerie, glowing TV scenes. I noticed that all 4K UHD discs are Region Free, and all Blu-ray discs are Region A locked, just for your information, guys.
There’s some bonus content, too. I listened to the filmmaker commentary with Jane Schoenbrun and Brigette Lundy-Paine. It gave me some cool insights into the making of the movie. There are also deleted scenes. I checked these out after watching the film. It was interesting to see what didn’t make the final cut.
Overall, I am super happy with this Blu-ray. It’s a great addition to my collection. If you’re into thought-provoking films, I highly recommend picking this one up. The movie is supposed to be released on July 30, but you can rent it now for $19.99 or buy the digital version for $24.99.
That’s it for my little movie night adventure. Hope you guys enjoyed the rundown!
