Well, let me tell you, I seen a lot of picture shows in my day. But that King Kong, that big monkey, he’s somethin’ else. Reminds me of my old rooster, always gettin’ into trouble. If you liked that big ape, you might like some of these other ones I seen.
That Godzilla, he’s a big one too. Big lizard stompin’ around. Makes a mess of things, just like Kong. He came out long time ago, all in black and white, 1954 I think. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, you know. That’s one movie like King Kong. Big monster causing big trouble.

There’s another one, The Host, they call it. Came out in, oh, 2006 or somethin’. Monster comes outta the water, scarin’ everybody. Reminds me of the time the well overflowed and all them catfish got loose. Chaos, I tell ya! This one’s kinda like that King Kong, always somethin’ big and scary causin’ trouble.
Now, if you saw that Kong: Skull Island, that’s a newer one. Lots of folks talkin’ about it. 2017, I believe. Lots of bang-bang, boom-boom. Just like when ol’ man Johnson’s tractor backfired. Scared the chickens half to death. If you liked that one, you might like that Godzilla vs. Kong. That come out in 2021, I hear. Two big things fightin’, what more you want?
And what about that A Quiet Place Part II? Also from 2021. Folks gotta be real quiet, or somethin’ gets ’em. Like tryin’ to sneak past my old dog when he’s sleepin’. One wrong move, and it’s all over. Don’t know how much it is like King Kong, but still scary.
They say there’s lots of movies like King Kong. Like, 76 or somethin’. Can you believe it? More movies than there are cows in Farmer McGregor’s field. All them movies about big things, scary things. They make you jump outta your seat, just like when a mouse runs across the floor.

- Godzilla (1954) – Big lizard, lots of stompin’.
- The Host (2006) – Monster from the water, lots of runnin’.
- Kong: Skull Island (2017) – Big monkey, lots of yellin’.
- Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) – Big monkey and big lizard, lots of fightin’.
- A Quiet Place Part II (2021) – Gotta be quiet, or else!
These picture shows, they all got somethin’ in common. They tell stories. Just like when we all sit around after supper and tell stories. Some scary, some funny. That one time in 1933, they made King Kong. And it was a big deal. A real phenomenon. They say it was groundbreaking, whatever that means. Big word for a big monkey, I reckon.
Movies and them storybooks, they’re kinda the same, ain’t they? They both tell stories that make you think. Make you feel somethin’. Scared, happy, sad, you name it. And they got them moving pictures. Just like real life, but bigger and louder. Or they got words in them books that paint pictures in your head. Powerful stuff, you know?
Some movies come out ’round the same time, all about the same thing. Like two folks plantin’ the same seeds at the same time. They call them “twin films”. Like two peas in a pod, but not really. Just same idea, different folks makin’ ’em. Kinda like when me and my sister both made apple pies for the church social. Same idea, but mine was better, of course.
So, if you liked that King Kong, you got plenty of other picture shows to watch. Just find one of them lists, they got ’em all over. Pick one that sounds good, and enjoy. And don’t forget the popcorn! It ain’t a movie without popcorn. Just like it ain’t a farm without a rooster crowin’.

They are showin’ these movies like King Kong everywhere. You can watch ’em on that Netflix, or that Amazon, or that iTunes. Or that Disney+. All them places got these kinda movies. It is easy, they say. But not for me. Too many buttons on that thing. I just stick to my old TV, that is good enough for me.
All these movies like King Kong, they are everywhere. Too many if you ask me. But folks like them, so they keep making more. They are all about big things, these movies. Big monsters, big adventures, big noises. Sometimes it is too much, all that big. But that is what folks like, I guess. They like the thrill. Like riding a roller coaster. I never did like them roller coasters, though. Too much for my old heart.
So, there you have it. Lots of movies like that King Kong. If you like big and loud and scary, you’ll be happy as a pig in mud. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you can’t sleep at night! Those monsters, they can give you bad dreams. Just like that time I ate too much apple pie before bed… what a night that was!
