Hey there, young folks! Let me tell you somethin’. This here old lady heard some young’uns talkin’ ’bout that game, Red Dead Redemption 2. Now, I ain’t never played it myself, but they was askin’ if it was “cross platform” or somethin’ like that. Is Red Dead Redemption 2 cross platform? Sounds like a silly question, right?
Well, I heard ’em sayin’ that this Red Dead Redemption 2 game, it ain’t cross platform. That means if you got one of them fancy PlayStations, you can only play with other folks who got PlayStations. Same goes for them Xbox fellas, you only play with Xbox folks. And PC, well you get the idea I think. You PC people play with each other, that’s it. If you ask me it’s not a good thing. It’s like my chickens, they only play with other chickens. If you wanna play together, you gotta have the same game box!

Now, I heard ’em sayin’ somethin’ ’bout “story mode” and “online servers”. Each platform has its own story and its own online servers. Sounds complicated, don’t it? Just like tryin’ to keep track of all my grandkids! Basically, they said if you start playin’ on one type of game box, and then you switch to a different one, you gotta start all over again. That’s a real bummer, ain’t it? Like plantin’ your whole garden and then havin’ to move and plant it all over again. Too much work if you ask me. And they even said even now, with this version 1.23, it’s still the same thing.
I heard some other things too. They say this Red Dead Redemption 2 runs better on some fancy Xbox than that PlayStation thing. Somethin’ ’bout “resolution” and “4K”. Sounds like a bunch of fancy words to me. All I know is, my old TV works just fine. But if you want the best picture for your game, I guess you gotta get that fancy Xbox. That’s what them young’uns said, anyway. They also said, if you want a good time playing this game, you need a good computer. Like, you need a real strong computer, with “Intel Core i7” or “AMD Ryzen 7” and “16GB of RAM”. I don’t know what all that means, but it sounds expensive! My old computer can barely handle my email, let alone a fancy game like that!
- This here game, Red Dead Redemption 2, it ain’t cross platform.
- PlayStation folks play with PlayStation folks.
- Xbox folks play with Xbox folks.
- PC folks only play with other PC folks.
- If you switch game boxes, you gotta start all over.
- It runs better on some fancy Xbox, they say.
- You need a powerful computer to play it good.
So, is Red Dead Redemption 2 cross platform? Nope, it ain’t. If you wanna play with your buddies, you all gotta have the same kind of game box. Otherwise, you’re outta luck! It’s a shame, really. They should make it so everyone can play together, no matter what they got. Like a big ol’ family reunion, everyone’s welcome!
Now I know some might say that, yes, it is cross-platform. But that ain’t what I heard. Maybe they got confused, you never know. I asked my grandson, he says it’s a no, too. So who are you gonna trust? Some fancy internet words, or your dear old granny and her grandson, who play these games all the time? I think it’s just a big confusion!
They also talk about Red Dead Online. Sounds like it’s also not cross-platform. I think it is part of Red Dead Redemption 2, but don’t quote me on that. I don’t know much about the online part. My internet is not good enough for that. All I know is that if you wanna play online, you need to play with someone who uses the same device.

Anyway, that’s all I got to say ’bout this Red Dead Redemption 2 and this “cross platform” business. It’s a lot of fuss over a game, if you ask me. But I guess these young folks love their games. Back in my day, we just played outside! We didn’t need no fancy game boxes. Just a stick and a hoop, and we was good to go! These days, it is all about Xbox and PlayStation.
Well, I hope I cleared things up for ya. Remember, if you wanna play with your friends, make sure you all got the same game box. And if you want the best picture, maybe you need that fancy Xbox. And don’t forget, you need a powerful computer to run it smoothly! It is what it is I guess. And this old lady’s gonna go tend to her garden now. You young’uns have fun with your games! And be good to each other. Even if you can’t all play together on the same game box!
