So, I’ve been using this app called Letterboxd for a while now. It’s basically like a diary but for movies. Every time I watch a movie, I just log it in there with the date and stuff. It’s pretty neat.
But then I started seeing these options for “Pro” and “Patron” accounts. At first, I was like, “Nah, why pay for something I’m getting for free?” But the more I used the app, the more I got curious. I mean, what exactly do you get with these paid versions? I started poking around the internet a little bit, and some people were saying that the Pro version is really worth it. It gets rid of ads, which is always a plus, and it lets you see all sorts of stats about your movie-watching habits.
I’m a sucker for stats, so that definitely piqued my interest. Apparently, you can also filter your movies in a bunch of different ways and customize your profile a bit more. Some folks were even talking about this thing called “JustWatch” functionality, which I think helps you find where to stream movies. The Patron version has all that, plus some extra stuff like changing movie posters and photos of the cast and crew. And you get early access to new features, which is cool, I guess.
Anyway, I was on the fence for a bit. But then I saw this one comment that said something about supporting the online services we use and love. And I thought, “You know what, that’s true.” I use Letterboxd all the time, and it actually does make my movie-watching experience better. So, I decided to take the plunge and go Pro.
The result?
- No more ads: This is honestly the best part. It’s so much nicer to use the app without those annoying ads popping up all the time.
- Stats galore: I’m having a blast exploring all the stats. It’s really interesting to see my viewing habits broken down like that. I’m such a nerd for this stuff!
- Filters are handy: Being able to filter my movies by different criteria is super useful, especially when I’m trying to find something specific to watch.
- Profile customization: I haven’t done a ton with this yet, but it’s nice to have the option to personalize my profile a bit more.
- Overall: I’m really happy I decided to go Pro. It definitely enhances the Letterboxd experience, and I feel good about supporting a service that I enjoy so much.
I haven’t tried the Patron version, so I can’t really say if that’s worth the extra money. But for me, the Pro version is definitely a good deal. It’s not super expensive, and it makes using Letterboxd even better. If you’re a movie buff and you use Letterboxd a lot, I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out.
