Hey everyone, so today I was in the mood for some good old laughs mixed with a bit of a scare, and I thought, why not dive into some movies like “Scary Movie”? You know, those flicks that make you jump and then crack up right after? So, I started digging around to see what I could find.
First off, I went on a little online hunt. I typed in something like “best horror comedy movies” into my search bar. I figured that would be a good starting point. And boy, did it give me a ton of results! There were so many lists and articles about horror comedies.

I started skimming through a few of them. One article, I think it was called “Top Horror Comedies of All Time,” caught my eye. It mentioned classics like “Beetlejuice” and “Ghostbusters.” “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!” I said out loud, remembering how much I loved that movie as a kid. Michael Keaton is just hilarious in it. Also saw “American Psycho” and “Zombieland.” I watched these movies many years ago. They are really classic.
Then, I stumbled upon another list that talked about more recent movies. “Housebound” from 2014 was one of them. The plot seemed interesting – something about a woman named Kylie under house arrest. Sounded like a good mix of spooky and funny, so I jotted that down.
I also came across a mention of “Tucker and Dale vs Evil.” Someone in a forum said it was a “GREAT horror comedy,” even if it wasn’t super scary. I made a mental note to check that out later. Seemed like a hidden gem.
There was this one movie, “Shaun of the Dead,” that kept popping up everywhere. Apparently, it’s like the go-to horror-comedy of the 21st century. I’ve seen it before, but it’s been a while. Might be time for a rewatch!
I spent a good chunk of time just going through these lists, making notes of the movies that sounded fun. I even found out that “Scary Movie 3” is basically a spoof of movies like “The Ring,” “Signs,” and “8 Mile.” Who knew? And that final scene where Doofy stops pretending to be disabled? It’s a nod to “The Usual Suspects.” I love little details like that.

My Watchlist
- Beetlejuice – An absolute classic. Time to revisit.
- Ghostbusters – Another classic.
- Housebound – Seems like a newer one with a fun plot.
- Tucker and Dale vs Evil – Might be a hidden gem.
- Shaun of the Dead – Everyone says it’s a must-watch.
- American Psycho – A little bit terrified but classic.
- Zombieland – Woody Harrelson is the most impressive.
So yeah, that was my little adventure today. I ended up with a pretty solid list of movies to watch. I’m thinking of starting with “Beetlejuice” tonight. Gotta love a good throwback! It’s amazing how many great horror comedies are out there. Blending scares with laughs is such a cool idea – it makes for some really absurd and entertaining situations. If you guys have any other recommendations, feel free to drop them in the comments. I’m always up for a good laugh and a little bit of a fright!
Hope you enjoyed this little journey through my movie-hunting process. Catch you in the next post!
