Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole “Martin Goodman pulps” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started out knowing absolutely nothing, just a vague idea that it had something to do with old magazines.
Getting Started
First, I just did some broad searching. I typed “Martin Goodman pulps” into a search engine and started scrolling. I saw a bunch of names popping up – Marvel Comics, Timely Comics, Red Circle… it was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
Sorting Through the Mess
I realized I needed to narrow things down. I started looking for websites that specifically focused on pulp magazines. Some were pretty amateur-looking, but others seemed like they were put together by real enthusiasts. I spent a good chunk of time just browsing those sites, soaking up information.
Focusing on Specific Titles
From there, I started to see some patterns. Certain titles kept coming up: things like “Marvel Science Stories” and “Complete Stories.” I figured those were probably important, so I started looking for information specifically about those magazines.
Getting my hands dirty
Because I felt that it was too messy to find what I wanted, I started searching for some images of the original magazines, and let me tell you, some of those covers are wild! Lots of monsters, damsels in distress, and guys with ray guns. It’s a whole different world.
Putting It All Together
Finally, I felt like I had a decent handle on things. I started organizing my notes, trying to create a timeline of sorts. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m starting to understand how all these different pieces fit *’s like a jigsaw puzzle to me.
Now I kind feel I am a little bit an expert of this field, I think next I can try to collect the real pulps, wish me luck!
