Okay, so the other day I started messing around with this thing called “Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic Vol 1 8”. It’s one of those digital comics you read by scrolling.
First off, I grabbed my tablet and found this comic on the Marvel Unlimited app. I’ve heard some buzz about the “Marvel’s Voices” series, figured it was time to see what the fuss was about. This particular volume, number 8, is part of a bigger series that started back in June 2022.
I started reading, and man, the scrolling format is kinda neat. It’s different from flipping pages, gives it a whole new feel. Each panel just flows into the next. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just going through it.
Here’s a bit of what I found:
- Characters: This issue features some characters I wasn’t too familiar with, like Billy and Teddy. They are part of the LGBTQ+ community, which is pretty cool to see in a mainstream comic.
- Story: The story was penned by Anthony Oliveira, and the art was done by Derek Charm. It’s a short read, but it packs a punch. I won’t spoil it, but it definitely got me thinking.
- Art Style: The art is, well, it’s not my favorite. It’s a bit too simplistic for my taste, but I guess it works for the digital format. I found myself comparing it to those old cartoons, where there are simple lines and bright colors.
After finishing it, I went online to see what others were saying. Turns out, this series has gotten some pretty good reviews overall. An average score of 8.0, that’s not too bad. Some folks were even discussing how this series is a good starting point for getting into the wider Marvel Universe.
My Final Thoughts
Reading “Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic Vol 1 8” was an interesting experience. It’s not something I’d usually pick up, but I’m glad I did. I will say that I’m not totally sold on the whole Infinity Comic format, but it’s definitely something different. It took me a while to get used to the scrolling, but it was pretty cool.
I realized that reading comics digitally is not that bad, especially these shorter ones. I spent maybe an hour or two on this one. But I can’t say if I will read it again or try to find other volumes to read. It’s cool that they’re trying new things, though.
I’m not sure if I’ll dive into more of these Infinity Comics. But hey, it was a fun little experiment. If you’re into Marvel and want to try something a bit different, maybe give it a shot. You might like it more than I did.
