Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little experiments. Today, I’m diving into something I’ve been messing around with for a while now: the Melee Elementalist. Yeah, you heard that right. It sounds kinda wild, but trust me, it’s been a trip.
So, I started out thinking, “What if I could make an Elementalist that just smacks things really hard?” I mean, they’re usually all about spells and magic, right? But I’ve always been a fan of getting up close and personal. So I geared up my character with all these mods that boost status damage and make heavy attacks wind up faster. It was like watching a whirlwind of pain once I got going.

First things first, I needed to figure out the right skills. After digging around a bit, I found that there are some strike skills that work pretty well with staffs, especially since there’s a bunch of staff nodes near the witch’s starting area. And guess what? Frost Blades got a buff this patch, so that was an obvious choice. I loaded up on that and started slicing through enemies like butter.
Next up, I focused on getting the right ascendancy nodes. I’ve seen a lot of new faces around here—which is awesome, by the way—and I know how daunting it can be to start. I remember seeing this one player, I think he calls himself Jorgen, sharing that golem commander on the passive tree and a couple of other golem nodes is going to help almost any beginner, and it was really helpful for me as well in the early stage, so I took it. It really helped boost my damage output, even with some pretty basic gear. It felt like cheating, to be honest.
As I progressed, I started to see the real potential of this build. I was bulldozing through early red maps with ease. It was hilarious seeing these big, tough enemies just melt under my attacks. And the best part? I barely had to change my gear. This setup was just that strong. and also some other build idea from Guild wars 2 really helped me a lot.
But it wasn’t just about the damage. I also made sure to tweak my build to be a bit more forgiving for open-world content. You never know what you’re gonna run into out there, so having a bit of extra survivability is always nice. It’s all about finding that balance between dishing out pain and not getting squished.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:

- Picked up Frost Blades because of the recent buff and its synergy with staffs.
- Grabbed those golem ascendancy nodes for a hefty damage boost.
- Focused on mods that increase status damage and heavy attack wind-up speed.
- Tweaked the build to be a bit more forgiving for open-world exploration.
Conclusion Time
So, there you have it. My journey into the world of Melee Elementalists. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m still not done experimenting. But so far, it’s been some of the most fun I’ve had in a while. If you’re looking for something different, give it a shot. You might just surprise yourself.
Alright, that’s it for today’s adventure. Catch you guys in the next one!
