Okay, so, I’ve been on this kick lately, right? Trying to find movies that give off the same vibe as “Little Miss Sunshine.” That movie just, ugh, it’s so good! The quirky family, the road trip, the feels. It’s a masterpiece. So, I set out on a mission to find flicks that capture that same magic. First thing I did was, obviously, hit up Google. I just typed in something simple like “movies like Little Miss Sunshine.”
Bam! Tons of articles and lists popped up. I started clicking through, making a list of all the movies that seemed to be recommended a lot.
My Watchlist
- The Royal Tenenbaums – This one kept coming up. People were all, “Oh, it’s got that dysfunctional family thing going on, just like ‘Little Miss Sunshine.'” So, I’ve watched it. You know what? It did give off a similar vibe.
- August: Osage County – This was another one that some article mentioned. They called it the “magnum opus” of the director, which, you know, sounds fancy. Seemed like it’s about a family thing, and it did indeed, you know. It’s heavy, but good.
- Juno – I saw this one recommended too. People said it had a similar kind of coming-of-age, quirky feel. It’s about a teenage pregnancy and that kind of stuff. So I’ve watched it a while ago, but I remember liking it, so I’ll probably revisit it soon.
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – Okay, this one is a bit different, but it was on some lists, so I thought, “Why not?” I’ve watched it before, and it’s definitely not the same kind of comedy as “Little Miss Sunshine,” but it’s got that indie, thoughtful vibe.
- Stand by Me – An oldie but a goodie! I saw this on a list, and it kind of makes sense. It’s a coming-of-age story, a road trip kind of, and it has some emotional moments. Plus, who doesn’t love a classic?
- Billy Elliot – This one popped up on a Letterboxd list I found. I haven’t seen it yet, but it sounds interesting. It’s about a boy who wants to be a ballet dancer, which is definitely not your typical storyline. It’s on my list!
I’ve been slowly making my way through these. Some are total wins, others are… well, they’re okay. But it’s been a fun little project. Like, I’m on a quest to find the perfect “Little Miss Sunshine” replacement. I’m not sure if I’ll ever truly find one, but it’s been a blast trying! Watching movies, making notes, you know the drill. Oh, and I’ve been snacking on popcorn a lot, haha! It just feels right when you’re watching these kinds of movies.
So yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to. It’s been a good time. If you guys have any other suggestions, feel free to let me know. I’m always on the lookout for more!
