So, I’ve been messing around with this Neopets thing again lately. It’s a blast from the past, you know? Anyway, I decided to get my Neopet a little buddy, a petpet. I thought, why not a dog? Dogs are cool, right?
First things first, I had to figure out which dog I wanted. There are so many options in Neopia, it’s kinda crazy! I browsed through a bunch of different petpets, checked out their looks, and finally settled on a cute little one. I named him Buddy, ’cause why not?
Getting Buddy was pretty easy. I went to the petpet shop, picked him out, and paid the shopkeeper. Boom, I’m a petpet owner now! But then came the real work. I had to take care of this little virtual furball.
Feeding Buddy was my top priority. I read somewhere that you could feed your petpet without reloading the page all the time. You just click on the pet, select the food, and then click outside the popup instead of hitting “close and refresh”. Then just repeat. It’s such a time saver, seriously.
Next up, I wanted to make sure Buddy was happy and comfortable. I learned that I could play games with him to keep him entertained. I found a few fun games in Neopia, and we played for a while. It was actually pretty fun for me too, not gonna lie.
I also found out that you can train your petpet. I guess it makes them stronger or something? I haven’t gotten too deep into that yet, but I did find a guide that showed me where to go for training. I might try that out later.
Customizing and Naming
Here’s the best part, you can change how your petpet looks. I wanted Buddy to stand out a little, so I painted him, changing his color. Now he is a unique little guy.
- Choose a Name: I wanted something simple and friendly, so I went with “Buddy”.
- Picking a Design: There’s tons of breeds and colors. I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through them all.
- Visit the Petpet Puddle: This is where you can paint your petpet.
Now, I’m not sure if I want to keep Buddy forever. Apparently, you can remove your petpet if you want to. You just go to the Quick Ref page, click on the petpet, and then click the “Stop playing with [Petpet’s Name]” button. It sends the petpet back to your inventory. Good to know, I guess.
Honestly, having a petpet is more work than I expected. But it’s also kind of rewarding. Buddy is a cool little dude, and it’s fun taking care of him. Who knows, maybe I’ll get another petpet someday. Or maybe not, since I heard you can only have one per Neopet. That’s probably for the best, I don’t think I could handle more than one of these little guys!
This whole Neopets thing, it’s a nice little escape. I wasn’t really expecting to get sucked back in, but here I am, taking care of a virtual dog. Life’s weird, huh?
