Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz online about “Premonition,” that movie with Sandra Bullock. People seem super confused about the timeline, so I decided to give it another watch and, like, really pay attention. I grabbed some snacks, a notepad, and dove in.
First, I just watched it straight through. No pausing, no rewinding, just letting it wash over me. Honestly, even after seeing it before, I was still a little tripped up. It’s definitely not your typical linear story.
Breaking Down the Days
Then, the real work began. I went back and started meticulously tracking each day. It was tricky! The movie jumps around so much. Here’s what I did:
- Made a List: I literally wrote down each day as it appeared on screen, noting the day of the week and any major events.
- Used Visual Clues: I paid super close attention to things like Linda’s injuries (or lack thereof), what people were wearing, and the weather. These were HUGE in figuring out where we were in the timeline.
- Drew a Diagram: I’m a visual person, so I actually drew out a timeline. It wasn’t pretty, but it helped me visualize the * is really helpful.
The hardest part was keeping track of which version of Linda we were seeing. Was it pre-accident Linda? Post-accident but before she knew? It’s a mind-bender! I had to rewind and rewatch several scenes multiple times to make sure I had the order right. For example, one scene she’s got a huge gash on her face, and the next she’s totally fine. Gotta pay attention to those details!
Putting It All Together
After all that, I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on the *’s not perfect, and the movie definitely leaves some things open to interpretation, but I feel way less confused now. It is like some kind of loop,I still get confused, but it is much better than my first time watching.
Basically, the movie presents the days out of order to show Linda’s experience of living them out of order. She’s getting premonitions of the future, but she doesn’t understand them until it’s too late. So, we, the audience, are experiencing her confusion and disorientation alongside her.
It took some serious effort, some serious * is really a challenge to my brain, and a full pack of sticky notes, but I finally feel like I get it. At least, as much as anyone can “get” a movie that’s designed to mess with your head!
