Okay, so I’ve been a huge Batman fan since I was a kid, and “Batman: The Animated Series” was a big part of that. Recently, I got the itch to collect some of the old toys from the show. I mean, they just don’t make them like they used to, right?
Getting Started
First thing I did was hit up the internet. I started by just searching for “batman the animated series toys” to get a feel for what was out there. I quickly realized there’s a TON of stuff, from the common figures to some really rare and expensive pieces.
Digging Deeper
Then I spent a bunch of time just looking at pictures and figuring out which figures I really wanted. I decided to focus on the main characters first – Batman, Robin, Joker, Harley Quinn, you know, the classics. I also realized I really liked the vehicles, especially the Batmobile.
The Hunt Begins!
After making my wish list, it was time to start hunting. I check online shops. Man, some of those prices were crazy!
- Checked out what completed listings were going for. This gave me a better idea of what was a fair price and what was totally inflated.
- I found a few good deals on some of the more common figures.
Score! (and some setbacks)
I got lucky! I snagged a pretty good condition Batman and Robin two-pack for a decent price. The boxes were a little beat up, but the figures themselves were great. I also found a Joker in pretty good shape.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I saw a Batmobile I really wanted, but it was way out of my price range. And I accidentally bought a figure that was a “variant” I didn’t even know existed – turns out it wasn’t from the animated series at all! Lesson learned: read the descriptions carefully!
Cleaning and Displaying
Once I got my hands on the figures, I gave them a gentle cleaning. I just used some warm water and a soft cloth. Didn’t want to risk damaging them with anything harsh.
Now they’re proudly displayed on my shelf. It’s not a huge collection yet, but it’s a start. And it definitely brings back some awesome childhood memories. It is so cool!
