Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into the “Superman: Earth One” comics for a while now. I kept seeing them pop up, and the whole alternate take on Superman’s origin story sounded pretty cool. Today, I finally decided to dive in and read all of them.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out how many volumes there actually were. Turns out, there are three volumes, each one is like the graphic novels. It’s not ongoing or any of the monthly stuff. I made a simple checklist, just to keep myself organized:
- Superman: Earth One – Volume 1
- Superman: Earth One – Volume 2
- Superman: Earth One – Volume 3
With my list ready, I started with Volume 1.
The Reading Experience
I grabbed some snacks, found a super comfortable position on the couch, and then went into it.
Volume 1, man, it really hooked me right away! Seeing Clark Kent as this young guy, kind of unsure of himself and his powers, was so different. It wasn’t the all-powerful, always-knows-what-to-do Superman I was used to. He’s struggling to find his place in the world, trying out different jobs, and it felt… relatable, you know? The action scenes were awesome too, especially that first big fight. Totally kept me on the edge of my seat(couch).
After finishing Volume 1, I took a short break, restocked my snacks cause you need that, and then moved on to Volume 2. This one introduced a new villain, and it really upped the stakes. Clark is more comfortable being Superman, but he’s still learning. I loved seeing him grow and face these bigger challenges. The story got pretty intense, and I definitely didn’t see some of those twists coming!
Finally, I tackled Volume 3. By this point, I was fully invested. This volume tied up a lot of loose ends and brought a real sense of closure to the story. It had some really emotional moments, and the final battle was epic. Seriously, I think I actually cheered out loud at one point.
Final Thoughts
When all is done, I was so glad I finally took the time to read these. It was a fresh, exciting take on a character I thought I knew everything about. If you’re a Superman fan, or even just a fan of good superhero stories, I totally recommend giving “Superman: Earth One” a shot. It’s a fun, emotional, and action-packed ride from start to finish!
