So, I’ve been diving deep into the Renee Ballard series lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I wanted to chronicle my journey through these books, from start to finish, because, well, why not share the obsession?
It all started with The Late Show. I’d heard good things, picked it up on a whim, and bam! I was hooked. I literally grabbed the book and started reading. I mean, who doesn’t love a strong female detective who’s a bit of a lone wolf?
Getting Into The Groove
After that first book, I was on a mission. I quickly moved onto the other books that were already out.
- Dark Sacred Night: This one was intense. Pairing Ballard with Bosch? Genius. I remember thinking, “Okay, this is getting serious.” I even tracked down a first edition, just for the fun of it.
- Then came The Night Fire, and I just plowed right through it. I think I finished it in, like, two days. I just set aside a full weekend, snacks ready, and went to town.
The Waiting Game (And More Reading)
The thing is after catching up to the current books, it becomes the wait for the next in series, you know the wait for some series can be brutal.
I started actively looking for news about the next books. There wasn’t always a ton of information available immediately, which, in some ways I found in the process.
The Latest Chapter
Finally, Desert Star came out, and I was all over it. The desert setting, the cold case…it was everything I wanted. And with the most recent book and the latest cases, I had that satisfying feeling of seeing Ballard evolve, case after case.
So, that’s my Renee Ballard journey so far. It’s been a mix of devouring books, eagerly waiting, and enjoying every twist and turn.
