Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the concept art for Black Panther 2, especially the Atlantean stuff. It’s seriously mind-blowing! I wanted to try and recreate some of that magic myself, you know, get a feel for the design process.
First, I gathered a ton of reference images. I mean, tons. Screenshots from the movie, official concept art releases, even some fan art that I thought captured the vibe. I basically made a giant mood board on my computer.
Doodling and Sketching
Next, I started sketching. Just rough stuff, you know? Nothing fancy. I used my trusty old Wacom tablet and Photoshop. I focused on getting the basic shapes down – the flowing lines of the architecture, the organic feel of the technology, the way the light plays off the surfaces. I did a bunch of quick thumbnails, just exploring different ideas.
- I tried to capture the underwater feel, that sense of weightlessness and movement.
- I experiment with bio luminescent,glowing bits.
- Also I play with sharp edges combine smooth curves.
Building It Up
After I had a few sketches I liked, I started refining them. I added more detail, cleaned up the lines, and started thinking about color. The Atlantean palette is so cool – lots of blues and greens, with pops of brighter colors. I tried to stay true to that, but also added my own little twists here and there.
It’s a slow process, lots of trial and error. Sometimes I’d spend an hour on a detail, only to realize it wasn’t working and I had to scrap it. But that’s part of the fun, right? Figuring things out as you go.
I’m still working on it, but I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m learning a lot. And it’s just super inspiring to see the level of creativity and artistry that went into the movie. Makes you want to push yourself to do better.
