So, I’ve been messing around with this “semaphore gear crossword” thing lately. It’s been a bit of a head-scratcher, to be honest. I saw it online and thought, “Hey, that looks like fun,” but it’s definitely more challenging than I initially thought it would be.
I started by just staring at it for a good while, trying to make sense of the whole semaphore flags thing. I mean, I knew about semaphore from, you know, movies and stuff, but I never actually tried to use it. So, I pulled up a semaphore alphabet chart online, just to get my bearings.
Then I started trying to figure out the clues. Some of them were pretty straightforward, just regular crossword clues that I could fill in no problem. But then there were these other clues that were, like, descriptions of semaphore positions.
- That’s when the real fun began. I found myself waving my arms around like a crazy person, trying to match the descriptions to the chart I had.
- My cat was giving me some seriously weird looks, I can tell you that much.
- I scribbled down the letters I thought they represented, hoping I was getting it right.
After a lot of trial and error, and probably a few too many arm movements, I finally started to see some words forming. It was like a lightbulb moment, you know? Like, “Oh, that’s what that means!” I managed to fill in a few more words based on the letters I already had, and that helped a ton.
It took me a couple of evenings, but I eventually cracked the whole thing. It was super satisfying to finally solve it, not gonna lie. I definitely feel like I earned that sense of accomplishment.
Lessons Learned
Honestly, doing this puzzle was a cool little adventure. I learned way more about semaphore than I ever thought I would. Plus, it was a fun way to challenge myself and keep my brain busy. Would I do another semaphore crossword? Maybe. It was fun, but also kinda exhausting, haha! I mean who will have that time to wave hands?
