Okay, so it’s the “shorts anniversary,” and I wanted to do something special. I brainstormed a bunch of ideas, like maybe a compilation of my best shorts, or a “behind the scenes” look at how I make them. But then, I decided to go with something a little different.
Making a special Animation Short
I decided to create a brand new short, just for this occasion. I wanted it to be something fun, maybe a little bit silly, and representative of what my channel is all about.
- First, I jotted down some ideas. What kind of story did I want to tell? What characters should I use? I wanted to keep it simple, since I was doing everything myself.
- I drew out a quick storyboard. Just some rough sketches to get the basic flow of the animation down. Nothing fancy, just stick figures and basic shapes.
- Next, I opened up my animation software. I used a free 2D program. Started with the basic keyframes, getting the main poses and movements in.
- Then it was time to “in-between” – That is filling in all the frames between the keyframes to make the movement smooth. This part is the most time consuming part.
- After the animation, I added sound effects. Just some free sounds I found online, and some I did by using my own voice .
- Finally, I exported the whole thing and uploaded it.
It took me a whole day from start to finish, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and it’s a fun little way to celebrate this shorts anniversary. I hope my audiences enjoy it!
