Alright, so, I’m a chili farmer, right? But here’s the kicker – I can’t stand spicy food. I know, I know, it sounds crazy. You’d think someone who spends their days surrounded by these fiery little peppers would love the heat, but nope, not me.
It all started years ago when I decided to take over the family farm. We’ve always grown chilies, it’s kind of our thing. I jumped in, ready to get my hands dirty. I planted the seeds, watered the plants, and watched them grow. Day in and day out, I was surrounded by chilies of all shapes, sizes, and heat levels.
The Harvest
When it was time to harvest, I was right there, picking the chilies with the rest of the crew. Now, I’m a practical guy. I figured I should probably know what I was selling, so I decided to taste a few. Big mistake.
The first one I tried wasn’t too bad, a mild jalapeño. I thought, “Okay, I can handle this.” But then I got a little too confident and went for a habanero. That’s when things went south. My mouth felt like it was on fire, my eyes started watering, and I was sweating like crazy. It was a disaster. From that day on, I steered clear of anything spicy.
The Irony
So, here I am, a chili farmer who avoids spicy food like the plague. People always get a kick out of it. They ask me, “How can you grow chilies and not eat them?” And I just shrug and say, “It’s my job, not my diet.”
- I grow them,
- I harvest them,
- I sell them,
but I sure as heck don’t eat them.
Some folks call it irony, others call it a coincidence. I just call it my life. It’s funny how things work out sometimes. You end up in a situation you never expected, doing something that seems completely opposite to what you enjoy. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love being a chili farmer, even if I can’t enjoy the fruits of my labor in the same way others do.
At the end of the day, it’s all about finding humor in the unexpected. And trust me, there’s plenty of humor in being a chili farmer who hates spicy food.
