Okay, so today I wanna talk about something that’s been bugging me for a while—Saurians in Star Trek. I mean, I was watching some episodes and got curious, so I did a little digging.
First, I had to figure out what these Saurians even are. Turns out, they’re like these humanoid lizard guys. Picture a human, but make it a reptile, you know? They’re from this planet called Sauria, which is a pretty cool name if you ask me.

So, I started by just watching a bunch of episodes where they showed up. They’re not in a ton, but they’re there. They have this scaly skin that can be pink or gray, and their eyes are pretty wild—big, black or yellow, with these weird vertical and horizontal eyelids. It’s like they can see everything! I read somewhere that they can see a visual spectrum of 74,000 nanometers. I don’t even know what that means, but it sounds impressive.
Delving into the Details
After I got a good look at them, I wanted to know more about their history. I found out that one of them, named Linus, was on the USS Discovery. That was around 2257, I think. Then there were a couple of others on the USS Enterprise. It’s kinda cool to see them popping up in different places.
- Watched episodes featuring Saurians to get a feel for them.
- Noted their physical characteristics: scaly skin, weird eyes, and all that.
- Tracked down some of their appearances in different series.
Culture and Other Stuff
Their culture is pretty interesting too. Their language is all clicks and pops. I saw this one episode, “An Obol for Charon,” where the universal translator was having a hard time with it. Imagine trying to talk to someone and all you hear is clicks—it’d be wild! I guess in the 2250s, the tech wasn’t quite there yet.
Another thing I stumbled upon is that they can breathe different gases that would probably kill most other humanoids. That’s some next-level stuff. They are also said to make excellent Star Fleet officers. They are highly intelligent beings.
I also learned that some reptilian species were described using the term “Saurian”.

There is also something called the Saurian virus but I don’t know much about it.
Someone said that the most powerful species in Star Trek were The Q Continuum, The Metrons, The Organians, and whatever species Trelane is part of. They also said that the Prophets are above them all. It’s not really related to the Saurians but I still found it interesting.
So yeah, that’s basically what I found out about Saurians. It’s not a ton of info, but it’s enough to make you think. They’re these cool, intelligent lizard people with a weird language and some crazy biology. Star Trek is full of this kind of stuff, and it’s fun to just dive in and see what you can find. It’s like being a space explorer, but from your couch!
