Okay, so, I’ve been getting into comics lately, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I stumbled upon this character, Madelyne Pryor, and she seemed pretty cool. She’s got this whole Goblin Queen thing going on, and her story is just… chef’s kiss So, I decided I needed to figure out the best way to read her story.
First, I had to find out where she even showed up. Turns out, her first appearance was in Uncanny X-Men #168. She’s introduced as this pilot, and right away, you notice she looks a lot like Jean Grey. Classic comics, am I right? I grabbed that issue and read through it.

Then things get juicy. I found out she gets involved with Cyclops (Scott Summers), you know, the X-Men leader. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. He was a total jerk, treating her coldly and later abandoning her when he hears Jean Grey is alive. Ouch, man. Anyway, I wanted to see how this drama unfolded, so I dug into the Essential X-Men, Vol. 4, which collects Uncanny X-Men #162-179. It’s got some good stuff in there, especially with her and Scott’s relationship developing.
After that, things start getting weird. I found out that she turns into this Goblin Queen character, which is like, her defining role. Apparently, it all goes down in this big event called “Inferno.” Everyone says that’s the story to read for Madelyne Pryor. So, naturally, I hunted down the “Inferno” event comics. That was a lot of issues to collect, let me tell you. It’s got everything – her backstory, her struggles, all that jazz. It was intense!
After “Inferno,” things get a little… messy. She kind of becomes a ghost? I wasn’t too into that part, honestly. It felt a bit all over the place, and I heard from some other comic readers that it’s not really worth reading. I decided to skip that stuff. I wanted the good Madelyne content, you know?
My Madelyne Pryor Reading List:
- Uncanny X-Men #168 (Her first appearance!)
- Essential X-Men, Vol. 4 (Collects Uncanny X-Men #162-179 – good for her early days with
