Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz around “Saw X,” and honestly, I was kinda hesitant. I mean, the Saw franchise has been…a rollercoaster, to say the least. But, the reviews were surprisingly good, and a friend of mine wouldn’t shut up about it, so I finally caved and watched it. Here’s how it went down.
The Setup
First, I grabbed some snacks. Gotta have popcorn for a horror movie, right? I made sure the lights were off, turned up the volume, and hit play. My expectations were pretty low, to be honest. I was fully prepared for another round of convoluted traps and questionable acting.
The Experience
- Started watching the movie, fully expecting the usual gore-fest.
- Realized pretty quickly that this one felt different. It actually had…a plot?
- Found myself getting invested in Jigsaw’s story. Yeah, I know, he’s a messed-up dude, but they actually gave him some depth this time.
- Braced myself for the traps. Of course, they were brutal, but they felt more…connected to the story, if that makes sense. Not just random torture.
- Got a little tense.
The Verdict
Okay, I gotta admit, “Saw X” was actually…good! I’m not saying it’s gonna win any Oscars, but for a Saw movie, it was surprisingly solid. The story pulled me in, the traps were as gnarly as ever (maybe even more so), and I actually cared about what happened to the characters. I jumped a couple of times, groaned at the gore, and ended up staying up way later than I intended, because it was the only movie I chose to watch.
If you’re a Saw fan, you’ll probably dig it. If you’ve been burned by the later sequels, I’d still say give this one a shot. It’s a return to form, for sure. Just…maybe don’t eat anything too heavy beforehand. Just some popcorn and something to drink will be enough.
