So, I wanted to see what this “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” script was all about. You know, it’s that old movie from the 80s that everyone keeps talking about. I thought, “Why not check it out?”
First, I had to find the script. I remembered reading somewhere that it was called “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” and the story was written by some people named Harve Bennett and Jack B. Sowards, and the screenplay was by Jack B. Sowards. So, I started my search with that info.
After some digging around, I finally found a version of the script labeled “REVISED FINAL DRAFT May 24.” I figured that was probably the one they used for the movie. It had all the dialogues and scenes laid out, just like a play.
I started reading it, and man, it was a trip! The story is about this guy, Admiral James T. Kirk, who’s feeling kind of old and washed up. He goes on this training cruise with the Enterprise, and things get crazy. There’s this other guy, Khan, who’s super angry and wants revenge on Kirk. It turns out, they have some history.
Here are some of the things I noticed while reading:
- The script is full of dramatic lines. For example, Khan has this intense quote where he says, “I’ve done far worse than kill you. I’ve hurt you. And I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her: marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet.” He’s really laying it on thick!
- There are also some funny moments, like when someone says, “(to Khan) It’s coming through now.” I guess you had to be there to get the joke.
- I also found out that the movie did really well when it came out. It was a big hit!
And at the end of the script, Khan is still shouting at the Enterprise as it flies away, saying, “From Hell’s heart … I stab at thee. For hate’s sake, I spit my last breath … at thee.” Apparently, he was quoting some old book.
My Thoughts
Overall, reading the “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” script was a fun experience. It’s a classic story of revenge and adventure. I can see why people still talk about it after all these years. It made me want to watch the movie again, just to see how it all played out on screen.
It’s also interesting to see how they used inspiration from other stories to make it even more dramatic. I think I might try to find more movie scripts to read in the future. It’s like getting a behind-the-scenes look at how they put it all together.
